West Maui Golf Courses

Maui's Best Golf CoursesKaanapali Kai and Royal Courses: redesigned by architect Arthur Jack Snyder in 1976, was recently renovated by Hawaii’s most prolific golf course architect, Robin Nelson. At 6,400 yards, the Par 70 course is a more forgiving golf course with subtle, undulating greens that suits all levels of play and in 2008 hosted the 12 ladies of T.V’s Big Break Ka’anapali. 

Features that make the course most enjoyable along many holes on the Kai Course lie natural canals, gulches and lava rock boundaries. The course is landscaped with native flowers along the trails like the hibiscus, bougainvillea and Plumeria, as well as the Norfolk Pines and coconut trees that border many fairways.

Kapalua Bay golf course

Kapalua Bay Course: Experience golf at its finest at the Kapalua Resort. The Bay Course, Host of the 2008 Kapalua LPGA Classic, winds its way through towering palms and flowering hibiscus.

Built with the tee on one side of a Pacific inlet and the green on the other, use the trade winds as your 5th tee shot carries over glistening Oneloa Bay. With its uninterrupted views of the Pacific and gentle rolling fairways, the Bay Course is sure to excite Golfers of all skill levels.

Kapalua Plantation golf courseThe Plantation Course at Kapalua, (CURRENTLY CLOSED JANUARY 2021) is the course of the PGA TOUR Hyundai Tournament of Champions each January, featuring an elite field of previous year’s PGA TOUR winners. Play where the champions play at least once in your life. The 10th straight year in a row, the Plantation course at Kapalua has been named the Top Golf Course in Hawaii by GofWeek magazine.

The par 73, 7,411-yard course has hosted many of golf’s greats. Previous competitors include Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, and many more. (The 2015 winner was Patrick Reed with a score or 271 or 21 under par)

Built around the beauty of the West Maui Mountains, the Plantation Course at Kapalua ranks among the world’s greatest golf courses. Witness awe-inspiring views, dramatic elevation changes, and nature’s challenges, as you test your ability and experience golf at its finest.

The finishing 17th and 18th holes are truly two of the great and fun finishing holes in golf.  The 17th is a 508 yard par 4 and the 18th is a 663 yard par 5! On each hole there is serious elevation change, where drives can be over 400 yards on the 18th fairway!

The Plantation Course was designed by famed golf architects Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore and stretches out across natural geographic formations and pineapple plantation fields. The views are simply incredible from every hole on the course! In winter months, you will see Humpbacks breaching and amazing views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai.

The greens can be fast due to the sand pack, but overall the County Parks Dept. does a great job at keeping this course very playable. *INSIDER TIP: This course is under-rated due to it's location and grass conditions, but it is more relaxed than other courses and has really amazing views!
